Hard body diving lures consist of four main parts. The bib, the body, the trebles and the tow point. All these parts effect the lures balance, buoyancy, action and diving capability.
If you are targeting Murray Cod and Yellowbelly, crash-diving lures are an excellent option, as they get down to where the fish are holding. Depending on the water you are fishing, you will need different lures that dive different depths. Common depths that fish are holding in range from as little as a metre to and past 15m. Lures need to be changed to suit their situation. There is no point having a deep diving lure on in 1 metre of water. The angler needs to understand this and change the lure for the situation.
Hard bodied lures are either trolled or cast, depending on the water. Many anglers choose to do both methods, both have their advantages and disadvantages. Lures around 50mm to 90mm in length are generally good for casting, whereas trolling can utilize lures up to and above 150mm.
